8MO Still Can't Self Settle

DS is 8 months old and hasn't been the best sleeper to be honest. He suffers with reflux which is medicated but I think we are on the home stretch now and I have seen an improvement. However he has never been able to self settle and although he will sleep in his cot at night, he needs to fall asleep on us before we can transition him and he will only nap in the car or moving pram. I would guess the fact that he has to be upright for 30 minutes after milk before we can lie him down may have played a part in him relying on us to settle. This along with the very often disturbed nights, we are slowly going out of our minds and need help please!

Try a dummy. The simplest not crying route to independent settling.

My dd always falls asleep on one of us at night and she is 15 months. I absolutely love having that cuddle time. Is there a reason you need him to self settle? I know it’s a kind of skill you feel they should do, and I felt like that with my older 2, but it isn’t a must, you could take that pressure off you.

Thank you Smile
He does have a dummy but will spit it out in hysterics because he's being put down.
I don't really mind him settling on me in the evening before bedtime but he won't nap in his cot during the day so I can't get anything done and struggle to spend quality time with DD who is 3.
