My 14 week has got worse at night. He is up feeding more but by 4am is wanting to get up. He slept for at least 6 hours before and 1 or 2 feeds. He is a big baby and I'm not far off weaning him but for not another few weeks. He sleeps in our room in his cot and is bottle fed. Any suggestions anyone?

It will be a phase. What time does he go to bed? I had about 2 weeks at one stage where my 8 month old decided 4am was wake up time! It passed though x

Thank you. Bedtime is anywhere between 7-8am but now he waking every 2-3 hours before I could get 6 hrs sleep straight and he would feed then back down to sleep. He has been sleeping since about 6.20 now. All over the place. He had a better routine as a newborn.

Look up Four month sleep regression and also the gentle sleep guide. I feel your pain but baby's sleep is not linear. As they learn new skills their sleep suffers. (spoiler don't look ahead to the nine month regression. It's worse). The best thing I food was to adjust my expectations. It's normal for babies to wake in the night. They need you. The advantages are that it boosts attachments directly makes your baby secure as you cuddle them. It might seem forever but it is a very short time in the scheme of things.

It's a thing, 4 month sleep regression. No solutions, I'm sure there will be far more experienced people along to help but BrewCake and it does pass.

Weaning early is probably not a great idea. Baby milk is calorie dense whereas food isn't. Less calories = hungrier baby, not fuller.

Read up about baby rice etc as they are nutritionally void and potentially harmful to babies future health. (I assume if you're planning on early weaning that you wouldn't be baby led weaning.)

How often are daytime bottles?

I had a similar big baby and was feeding (full feeds) 2 hourly. Feeds at 7am 9am 11am 1pm 3pm 5pm 7pm and 11pm meant that all baby's calories were in the daytime and non needed at night.

No point in weaning, it will just make baby hungrier. It's more milk baby needs. Give that in the daytime and less should be needed at night.
