Sleep

20 month old waking up

Hello, my 20 month has starting waking screaming between 3'and 4 every morning and nothing will settle him except coming into my bed. (Never co slept, just brought him in one night as he was going to wake his brothers and sisters) and it worked)

I have even tried giving him a bottle in desperation but that literally gives a moments respite while he drinks it and then screaming and crying starts again. Does anyone have any suggestions or do I just suck it up as a stage until he grows out of it?

So not to drip feed he has been late getting teeth so has had a rough few months with that, not sure if related.

If anyone jars any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Slow enough. His sister was the sane.He has a few words and phrases and uses them in correct context. - 'bye' 'see you soon' ' look at that' 'ta' 'mine' as he points if he wants something. Doesn't say Da da or any 'd' sounds. Can make a few animal sounds .

I meant there's a leap where they get ready for proper talking between 18 months and 22 months. It's a language explosion and keeps them awake

Mine did it at this age and was comforted by a teddy thing I had that smelt of me and she considered mine. It did pass

Oh really? He hasn't added many new words lately but is babbling away having conversations. Maybe that's it. I don't mind so much if I know that an end is in sight.

Cotton sock thanks for the idea, might chuck something of mine in tonight to see if it makes any difference.

Mine did this too and it seemed to last forever but has settled down the last month or so. He's 23 months now

It's a huge development leap. They literally can't switch off from it.

horseyhorseydonotstop - what happens to get him to sleep at bedtime? And what's his daytime nap routine like?

Daytime nap routine is one nap. 1 1/2 to 2 hours, always awake by 1:20 latest. To get him to sleep in daytime, he literally goes to cot, might 'chat' a bit but goes off no bother
