What time bedtime? Baby is 8 weeks

Hello, feel a bit daft posting this but I can't think sensibly at the moment! 8 week old wakes around 2ish and I give her her bottle, then again around 5/6. I think this is good considering her age. She goes down quite well during the night now, quite sleepy, so I swaddle her half way through the feed and she settles well usually.
It's when we put her to bed in the evening- she is usually sleepy around 7/7.30/8. After a bath. When you try to put her to bed though she will usually wake when you put her down and doesn't settle sometimes. If she does stay asleep she will usually wake 3 times maybe 9ish 10 then 11.30 when I would usually feed her again. The times vary, would we be as well letting her sleep in her carrycot in the living room with us until nearer 10/11ish? DH is stressing me out more about it as he keeps going on about how bad a sleeper she is, which I don't think she is!

They are supposed to sleep in the same room as you anyway at that age, until 6 months. Dts used to doze downstairs with us, fed upstairs at 10 and then into cot in our room.

DS just stayed downstairs with us at 8 weeks and we took him to bed when we went. He'd usually be asleep in his baby gym from around 9 iirc.

He didn't have a bedtime as such until he was six months and he goes up to bed at about eight as that's when he's got his grobag in and goes into a sleep mode that is ridiculously deep! He went in his own room at four - I know they say six but we were driving each other mad waking each other up!

sounds like a good enough sleeper to me though.

Dd is 5 months. We still just took her up with us at our bedtime at that age. She has now fallen in to her own bedtime of approx 7.30pm. I will either keep her downstairs with me or get an early night with her.

Lol your DH is in for a massive shock if he thinks that is a bad sleeper. Tell him my one year old was up every 2 hours last night Grin

Baby is 8 weeks. Sounds normal to me. Mine would sleep on me until we went to bed together!
DH needs to give his head a wobble!

Yep, all sleep downstairs with you until 6 months old. Just put the baby you sleep in a moses basket, sleepyhead etc downstairs and tske then up with you when you go. You can worry about a proper bedtime routine once they go into their own room.

DC3 is 12 weeks and this is what we do, have done it with the last 2, although I didn't really make a routine they just found their own really.

Sleep sounds normal to me. We did what the others did, our daughter stayed with us either being cuddled or in Moses basket in living room until she was 6 months.

If this is of any use this is a parent information leaflet from lullaby trust about safer sleep with a bit of info on room sharing www.lullabytrust.org.uk/document.doc?id=303

Thanks everyone. I thought that was ok too, I'll start keeping her down with us. Think we are trying to force her in to a routine too early!
