Too much sleep?

My DS has just turned two and has always loved sleep, he sleeps from around 7.30pm - 8.30am, and still loves his day time nap if we're at home, he doesn't tend to sleep if we are out.. he likes to go for his nap after lunch around 12.30 but can sleep until 4 if I let him, is this too long? Half of me is thinking he must need it, but he can wake up groggy and I'm starting to wonder if he is sleeping too much? I'm sat here wondering whether to wake him up?!

Does he still go to sleep at night and sleep well even if he's had a long nap? If so, then why change it?

If he's struggling to go to sleep at nights, or waking earlier in the morning, then you can look at cutting it back.

Thank you, Yes, he still sleeps through at night. I think I just needed reassurance! Most parents I know struggle to get a full nights sleep, so I don't dare ask for opinions!

Make the most of it. My DD was the same at that age. She's 3.10 now (and hasn't napped for nearly a year) but still sleeps at least 12.5 hrs at night and has to be pried out of bed in the morning. Brings a whole new meaning to the term 'threenager'.

It is good to hear your experience, I can imagine him being in bed at 6 when he starts school, luckily we don't have anything specific to be up for at the moment
