Co-sleeping experience

I co-sleep in bed with my 7 month old son (safely) personally myself AND my partner are much happier this way, we tried moving him into his own cot but both were much happier when he was with us and so was he. Whenever you tell people you co-sleep they offer you help or advise like there is no way we can be happy and I am yet to meet another parent that co-sleeps happily or admits that they do. I just wanted to know if there were any other parents who were happy co-sleepers (they must exist) and to let me know their experience. Smile

We do sleep, DD2 is 2 in Jan and except 3/4 nights in a Moses basket when she first came home she's always slept with me. DP has a sofa bed downstairs and has for a while because his snoring disturbs my sleep and makes my fibro flare up.

I saw a study somewhere once that suggested that 80 odd % of under 2s spend at least some part of the night in heir parents beds!

I co sleep with my 17 month old.

She either sleeps in with us or in a side car cot.

Our 3 year old often lands in in the middle of the night too

It's nice to see other people who are also happy, I just find if we are happy and baby is happy why force a change. Was it hard having your second baby if the first is still co-sleeping? It's my only concern.

I co sleep ( bed share) with my 2.5 year old, have done since she was born. Although she's a bit of a bed hogger, we have a super kingsize and still end up all squashed together! Love it though.

I was also a happy co-sleeper. DD is now 6 and barely comes into our bed any more Sad

I co-slept with both my children. DS1 probably slept with me until he was 2.5/3 years.
DD2 had slept on and off with me up till now at age 6, though she's had periods not sleeping with me.
I slept with both from newborn and never had any problem with it apart from sometimes feeling a bit too hot.

I've always co slept with my dc. It made nights so much easier (ex dp worked nights so was just me) and when I fed every 2 hours for what seemed like years it made it smoother. Ds1 eventually slept on his own in his own room when he was about 4.. he was a nightmare to get into his own bed full time.. ds2 is now 10 and still likes to co sleep. I have managed a few times to get him to sleep in his own bed for a few weeks at a time but there's always an excuse and I wake and he's in with me.. at the moment he can't bear to leave me... his words!
I'm hoping when ds1 goes to uni next year ds2 will like having his own room.
When they were younger it was lively and I'm convinced it's helped us have such a close easy going mother child relationship.

Can I ask you guys for some advice? I could not cosleep at the start as I was to immobile after c section complications for DD to be in the bed and she hated the cosleeper. Now at 6 and 1/2 months she mostly naps on me during the day and is held to sleep in the evening and after I have gone to bed I bring her into bed with me after she wakes for milk.

What do you do for when lo is ready to go down to sleep at night? My lo would just crawl of the bed? How do youvmake sure they don't fall off the bed when they wake up?

I am asking as I think lo would prefer to cosleep but as it is just her and I in the bed and she goes to sleep before me am I am wondering how to make it work.

Dd (1.4) sleeps in our bed with me. Dp smokes so gets the spare room.
I love it and hate it. Easy to feed and sooth but she's a chirpy girl at 5:30. and I had a nightmare the other night I was being strangled, turned out to be her laying over my throat.
But I love the cuddles.

We co- sleep . My mid wife nearly fell of her chair when I said we did.

It works for us.

Heirhelp - I have a babybay attached to my side of the bed (she never slept in it!) so she can't fall out. As far as bedtimes go, we read her stories in bed and stay with her until she falls asleep.

Co sleeping is one of the best decisions we made. I don't do it all the time as I can get bad back from it, so my baby starts the night in the cot at the side of my bed. Sometimes she stays there all night, but most often she comes in with us at some point.

We co-sleep with 14month DD, have done since she was a few days old when we realised we all slept better that way. It's the best, I love waking up next to her little face, but yes other people seem to think it's a problem which needs fixing, I often just smile and nod :)
