Moving DD into The Big Girl Bed

DD1 is just shy of 2 and a half and is still sleeping in a cot. She had been asking for a Big Girl's Bed for a few months but I was reticent about making the move as I've just had DD2 (she's 9 weeks) and I'm clinging onto whatever sleep comes my way, without adding to the drama by DD1 getting up as and when she pleases.

She kept on asking and asking so I gave in and rearranged the bedroom, with the toddler bed in the cot's old location but the cot still built (just in case).

First night, she was really excited. I tucked her in and kissed her goodnight, then she said she wanted to sleep in the cot.

That was 2 weeks ago and she still insists on sleeping in the cot. She loves her Big Girl Bed but only for jumping on, it appears.

I'd be happy to keep her in the cot until she's 16 but DD2 is going to need it in 3 or 4 months when she outgrows the crib.

Do I just let her make the move in her own time?

Do I take down the cot and rebuild it when DD2 need it? (They'll be sharing a room)

Do I let DD1 go to sleep in the cot then transfer her into the bed overnight? I'm worried that'd freak her out, though.

Help!
