3 month old seems to be hysterical when she knows we're putting her to bed

Me again! She can't hate sleep that much surely? It's very weird, we'll start the process but the minute we put her in the cot she'll become hysterical. I know she's probably overtired but if we take her out of the room she calms down?! Is that normal?

God the amount of time I spend obsessing about this girl's sleep Sad

She can go from hysterical to smiling and laughing in a couple of minutes I DON'T UNDERSTAND HER. I know she's tired.

Sounds like she justs wants to be with you OP, my DD was the same. Koala baby, I called her, clinging on my arm & shoulder 24/7 Smile

But she'll scream when I try to breastfeed her, scream when we try to rock her?!

Don't worry. It's normal. I have a one year old who is still my little stick insect. It's normal for her to want you. She was inside you for 9 months (I assume) she had your heartbeat and your warmth surrounding her. At the moment she is very little.

I remember feeling very overwhelmed when my son wouldn't sleep. We got him a blanket (well a lovely friend did) I slept with it so it smells of me. And a soft toy that he could snuggle.

I lived by the fourth trimester. I got a sling and it was the only thing keeping me sane.

When you hear the words...this too shall pass. Believe it.

I don't have any wise words. Apart from... Try not to worry. She will feed off of your stress

Maybe try starting the bed time routine a bit earlier? Might she just be really tired- DS used to get really angry and upset when he was over tired.

Maybe, she wouldn't even take a feed and I last fed her at 5pm. Confused

She's asleep in the sling now, her fave place Grin

It was just so weird she got hysterical and upset, then was giggling and having fun with DH before getting hysterical again. I know kids can get like that when tired but I didn't think they would get giggly tired as babies.

I bet she is overtired. Your dh will be distracting her from that. But lie her down and there are no distractions. So she screams.

I would keep her in a dark room for bedtime and cuddle her to sleep. When she is older you can teach self settling etc.

Yeah I'm not even fussed about self settling, she's way off that, she wouldn't even let me rock her, feed her, or cuddle her, ugh it was horrible.

But she was obviously overtired you're right, I've been trying so so hard to avoid that!! Will try and put her down earlier tomorrow.
