Sleep

6 month old gone back to 45 min naps

My DS did this up to 4 months or so then seemed to get the hang of having at least one longer snooze a day.
He seems now to have gone back to 3 45 minute sleeps a day which is doing my head in as he's tired and grumpy because of it. He's not a brilliant night sleeper despite my best efforts so I am trying to make sure he gets half decent day naps to help with this.
What am I doing wrong?!
He has a nap 2 hours after waking (although he sometimes has to wait for the school run for this) another roughly 2.5 hours after this then a half an hour nap 2.5 hours after this. sometimes a bit less awake time if he seems to be struggling.
About once a week I leave him for 5 minutes and he turns back over but this is rare!!
DD did this but once she figured it out how to sleep longer she remained good at it.

It may well be doing your head in but if that's how he wants to sleep, you just have to go with it and make things work his way, rather than your way.

If she likes 45 minute naps, then she likes 45 minute naps. I would aim for making them more frequent to avoid over-tired (I would try for more like 80min awake between 45 minute naps), if possible. But at the end of the day they are all different. Naps do usually extend naturally, with age. But do preserver with attempting to resettle back to sleep.

My DD is nearly 16 months now and I would really like to start morning toddler groups with her. I keep telling my Mum-friends that we'd start coming to groups when she's around 12 months when she drops her morning nap (my other 3 children and most I know drop to one lunchtime nap around 12 months old). But DD has other ideas - she's sticking with her 2 naps a day and shows no sign of it changing for now. So I just have to go with it and accept that while I might want to start morning toddler groups with her, she still wants to sleep so we will have to continue to do things her way, not mine (yet). They are all individual.

I only meant it's doing my head in because he is so tired and unhappy not because I want the time to myself.
I just thought because he'd already extended them the last two months that it was unusual to go back

My dd is 7 months and the last few weeks she's dropped a nap most days so down to 2. Could it be that he needs 2 longer naps? and instead he's giving you 3 short ones?
