Resettling to extend naps - do you bother and how long for?
(4 Posts)Hi all have an almost 8 week old DD2 and whilst she's very young I know she seems to respond ok to the shush pat and I was just wondering those who also Shush/pat to extend naps: how long would you bother doing it for before you just get them up? I know after 40 min she's still tired cos she cries and isn't happy (like she normally is) but don't also wanna be sitting there getting dizzy shushing for ages. I guess I'd like to persevere with her in the bassinet so I can spend time with my DD1 toddler who's unfortunately been kinda ignored since DD1's birth. Thanks
Personally my DD would never be shush patted. It's laughable really, she'd either just look at you wide eyed in bemusement or scream the place down. Only way to extend naps here has been boob in the mouth. Otherwise I don't bother. I can't have my whole life dependent on trying to get a baby to nap when I can just whack on a sling and go for a walk and it happens naturally.
What fluffikins said! All mine have been short nappers. I just make awake time shorter and have more naps in day. They out grow it around 6 to 8 months.
I feed my ds back to sleep to extend his nap. As he only feeds for 10 minutes and drops off reliably it works a treat
