SHE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!

SleepForTheWeak · 09/10/2015 15:02

I can't believe it, my almost 1 year old has just slept 11.5 hours without a peep. I never thought this day would come!!

We have been working with a sleep consultant for the last 4 weeks and she has gone from waking 7-8 times and feeding 5 times during the night, to sleeping through and not feeding at all during the night.

Miracles DO happen!

Trust me - if my DD can do it - anyone's can!

Ohhh congratulations!!!!!

How did you find a sleep consultant and what type of things did they do? If you don't mind me asking.

Ds (10 mo) has always been a bad sleeper. Before I had him I had spd too so don't remember the last time I slept through the night Sad

I was really about the sleep consultant - to the point where I thought about cancelling last minute.

The one we are using is amazing - we are doing a 6 week package and the support is through Skype and email. We've done it at our own pace and haven't felt pressured into doing something or made to feel guilty of we've not been able to carry out the proposed plan. We've not used any form of CC or CIO (although that's not to say there haven't been tears!!)

I had been the only one able to settle DD at bedtime, naps and during the night but now DH is more successful than me!

If you have the funds, and a real big problem, I think it's worth having a look. I honestly didn't think my DD was capable of sleeping for more than 3 hours straight never mind 11!!

That is great! What kind of price do you pay for one?

Ds is really bad with sleep Sad

Congratulations! We are using a sleep consultant too for our 10 month old so I know that even with support it can take a lot of effort and determination to follow through and take the steps needed. You didn't by chance use Ann Caird? The approach sounds very familiar. I am very much hoping to be following in your footsteps soon!!!

Yes Penguin! We are using Ann Caird Smile. Honestly, when we first spoke I thought "this is never going to work' but here we are 4 weeks later and two weeks still to improve naps.

She sttn again last night but was awake at 5.30.....oh well it's a far cry from where we were a month ago!

I had to click on this link as I remember this euphoria so well although it's a while ago now!
Very pleased to see you are another Ann Caird success story - we used her too. She was amazing. I still think of her often as I think I would still be an exhausted wreck without her help! Enjoy the sleep OP !

Haha it's like a mini Ann Caird fan club. Frankly if DD sleeps through the night I might set up a small shrine to Ann somewhere in the house!

Thanks sleep. Hope you are going from strength to strength with sleep. We are one step closer as we cut out the first night feed last night!

Well done penguin, I hope your LO surprises you as much as ours did!

DD has just cut her second molar in a week and she's still continuing to sttn (had a bit of a grumble last night at 4 but went back to sleep). She's been getting up early, about 6, but I can hardly complain about that!

I know no one will be reading this any more but I just had to say 'out loud'......she FINALLY did it too!!!!! We were SO nearly there then had a teething setback but DD slept 7.20 till 06.20 last night with no wakes Smile I am in no doubt that we will have some work to do before this is a regular thing and we will no doubt have some bumps in the road but just for now........HOORAY!

Lullaby that is great! Ann is amazing and importantly for me as my confidence as a mum was at a very low ebb, so understanding and encouraging. Before we started working with Ann I worried that despite all the fab reviews we were going to be the one family she couldn't help. There are no magic solutions and it hasn't been easy but the changes have been amazing and my only regret is that we didn't start working with Ann sooner! I would never have believed that we would get to a point, for naps and bedtime, of being able to put DD in her cot sat up and awake and leave the room straight away knowing that she will put herself to sleep within a few minutes, sometimes with a brief verbal reassurance from the doorway. Good luck on your journey!

Good to read all this, I'm struggling with 6/7 night wakings with 6.5 month old LO and have caved in and decided to go with Ann Caird for a consultation. Now I can't wait! Hope it works for us..

Good luck to you too Cosmic. We still sometimes have bad nights like last night for example, blimmin teeth! but DD's sleep overall is like night and day compared to when we started.

Penguin thank you for your encouraging words. In my darkest moments I also think I must have the only child in the world that Ann can't save! It's come at such a good time as I'm not at my wits end yet but pretty damn close, DS can't pull up or stand yet etc. I just hope 3 weeks is enough if we need to extend won't be till the new year, gulp.

Sometimes I think it's abit OTT to seek help at the stage but then he wakes up multiple times, won't nap for long etc. I dream of plonking in the cot and walking away it must be an amazing feeling!

cosmic good luck with your consultation hopefully we can compare notes on our sleeping angels in a few weeks Wink
