Nap time for 27 MO

Hi

DC2 is 27 MO and recently bedtime is a struggle. She naps around 1hr 30 mins after lunch so wakes about 3. Always been fine, but recently although she seems tired and very grumpy at bedtime it's taking us until about 8:30/9 to get her to sleep after an hour and a half of lying with her, tears, tantrums etc. then she wakes at around 5:45! This means she is really tired the following day and is getting more tired, napping slightly longer etc etc! So we dropped the nap and it has made a difference, bedtime is easier she's still up about 6/6:30 (7 would be ideal I feel!) but she can't cope during the day she is just so tired it seems cruel and is sometimes falling a sleep on the floor when playing or TV.

So, what do I do? Go back to naps? Or, I'm thinking a 30 minute nap late afternoon (or still at lunch?) or an hour and a half nap about 10:30/11 if she will e ready to sleep at this time?

Any thoughts? Please? Thanks!

Xx

Mine both had about an hour and a half at 12ish. Could you try the nap around this time?

We're in this cycle too. In an ideal world ds could do with sleeping for 12 hours at night. This happened a few times last week for the first time in ages and he didn't need a nap.

Otherwise the nap that works well is 2.30-3.30 and a 7.30 Bed. Usually sleeping by 8 after the routine

Can you drop it and put her to bed earlier? Or cut the nap to 45 mins as early in the day as you can

If she is up so early then she's maybe ready for her nap by about 11.30. Lunch at 11 then nap for no longer than 90 mins?

That's exactly it not the op if we could just get her a 12 hour sleep for a couple of night we'd be out of the cycle! Thanks everyone for the replies, few ideas to try, think I'll go for short, earlier nap. Keep you posted x
