It's silly o'clock, time to whinge incessantly

It was all going so well until Christmas. DD did 7pm-6am consistently. Then she had two solid months of snot and it all went to hell. She wakes up, and she babbles to herself, and then the whining starts. If I try to resettle she screams blue murder until I leave the room. Then whinges again. Usually if I offer her milk she'll go straight back to sleep. Not tonight though. Gave her milk at 2.45. She still won't shut up. I'm going to crack up if I don't get some decent sleep. How do I persuade her to stop whingeing and start sleeping through?

How old is your DD?

Although tbh whatever age, they all seem to have their "moments"
Ds1 is3.3 and just started having nightmares where he wakes up screaming at 3-4 am. Ds2 is13 weeks so has been DH going to settle him and he often just sleeps with him for rest of night (he's in a double bed)

She's just turned one. Really hoping this is just a phase. I just have no tactics for dealing with it, because she used to sleep so well.

Do you have anything in her cot to distract her?

Ds1 still has his Fisher Price seahorse, ds2 has a Ewan the dream sheep ( not that he cares for it yet)

Something which lights up and sings might distract her from whinging?
Having said that, if it's not out and out crying, can you not let her whinge a bit?

She's got a few toys and books, but she talks to them while playing. Loudly. 100 minutes of whingeing last night, before she finally went to sleep. If only I could sleep through it!. Earplugs would be bad parenting, wouldn't they?
