Did putting your 6 month old in their own room affect their sleep?

Ds is going into his own room in a few weeks and I have the probably delusional hope that it might help him sleep better. Alternatively, am worried it could go the other way as he's so used to sleeping with me and DH in the room and he might be lonely or something Hmm

So any experiences appreciated!

We have just put our six month old ds into his own room last week! His sleeping habits stayed the same (waking up once maybe twice) until two nights ago when he decided he didn't need to sleep! Hmm However I don't know if this is because he's in his own room or because he's teething. Good luck!

Improved it dramatically! I think we were waking him up.

with my 3, I noticed around the 6 month mark that we were beginning to disturb them, so when we came to bed they stirred and half woke up etc, whereas before 6 month they would sleep through an earthquake.

So when they went into their own room, they were disturbed less.
But when they woke up in the night it was more hassle, as instead of reaching out a hand to the cot, I had to get up, and so by the time I heard them and I got there they were more awake.

Mines 6mo this week. I'm dreading moving her because she wakes at least 6 times a night because she wants her dummy. Atm I can just roll over and stick it back in, but if we move her I'll have to get out of bed.
But on the other hand I feel like we're all disturbing each other. I'm fed up of creeping around and I'd really like to be able to get to my wardrobe again.
We've ordered a sleepytot thing to stick dummies to so that she can find them. Praying that it's the magic solution!

That's another thing steppemum, not looking forward to possibly traipsing across the landing when he starts, but do think we might be waking him more than we used to.

Having said that, he'll often only settle with a feed (won't just have a cuddle/chest pat), but he'll only take about 2oz then doze off again, so thinking it's more that he's reaching the end of a sleep cycle, DH's snoring is tipping him into being awake, and he's realising he's not comfortably full, as opposed to him being woken by hunger IYSWIM.

MyNameIs That's what I wanted to hear Wink Fingers crossed...

Pinklilies Oh god, I don't even want to think about the havoc teething will wreak Confused. Hope it resolves itself soon!

SummerSevern ha, we have the same thing some night, others he just manages to get himself back off...he usually pulls it out himself, then tries to get it back in the wrong way round Hmm

I would also like wardrobe access again...

We moved our twins at 7 months and they slept better, I think we were disturbing them. TBH, DP's snoring was disturbing them.

It was great to have our bedroom back, to be able to turn the light on, read, not have to get dressed in the dark!

Yes, DH is a serious snorer, I wear ear plugs and thump him when he gets too loud Hmm DS has so far proved fairly immune to the noise, but suspect its starting to get to him.

Ahh, light, how I've missed it! God, I hope this works out...

Just an update; DS has been in his own room around 3 weeks now and his sleep is...exactly the same Hmm Basically, every night's a surprise, some nights he's up every hour and others he'll sleep for 6-7 without a problem. I've basically given up trying to predict or change it! I just keep repeating...this too shall pass...
