im not sure if this is a sleep, feeding or weaning problem. my wee one is 26 wks and 2 wks ago started sleeping through the night. but this wk he woke between half 5 and 6 crying. we have been doing some training because he wouldnt go to sleep unless rocked, fed or tickled his face to sleep. he is on 3 meals a day and has breast fed. sorry if im rambling im just trying to give as much info as possible.

It's really common for babies to wake early but for no real reason except for developmental leaps (brains are wired so hard to sleep), the room temp could have dropped waking them, teething as they move into a light sleep in the early hours... It usually stops - I found putting DS to bed later didn't help! But he'd start waking up at a more reasonable hour after a while.

Sorry that doesn't really help

perfectly normal. And normal to need to be helped to go to sleep when they are so little (it's not so long ago that they were being rocked to sleep in the womb!) It will just sort itself out.

any advice is appreciated,it did cross my mind that it could have been a growth spurt, but this has happened since mon. he has slept well today and hoping that he will stay up a bit longer tonight as he has being going to bed a bit earlier than usual. will keep an eye on room temp with all this snow.

DS is a little older (8 months) and started sleeping through, with the help of a dream feed, when he was about 6 months. He used to wake at around 7 or 6.30am, but for the last month or so, it's been more like 5.30 or 6am. I figure it's a developmental thing (he's learning to crawl, etc). So, I'm just carrying on as before - I don't get him up until he starts making noise (squealing usually!) and he still gets breakfast at the "normal" time. I'm hoping it passes soon and he'll get back onto 6/6.30am....

Like igglybuff it makes no difference if we put DS to bed later... I know that doesn't really help, but I thought you'd like to know you're not alone!

We are having the same problems with DD who has just turned 6mo. She is undergoing a number of changes - is weaning onto solids, has 2 teeth broken through and more on the way, has recently started sleeping on her front and is trying to crawl. She has been waking at around 5am for a number of days but had dropped off again previously. Now she wakes crying and will not settle again laying down - only sitting with or laying on you.
If anyone has any advice or suggestions we'd appreciate it!
