Is La Clusaz too low for April?

Hi, I want to book a short break for me and 11 year old DD. She's only skied for a couple of weeks so don't want anything too extreme. Also want short transfer from Geneva.... seen a 4 day break, going 9th April on Ski Weekends that would suit us but am I taking a gamble on there being any snow???

HI. I would say it is a little bit of a gamble tbh.
From Geneva maybe look at Avoriaz or Courmayeur they are higher.
Let me know if you want me to suggest more detail :-)

Further to last post just looked it up to double check. Although village resort is not above 1500M It seems to have some higher areas so it may be ok if you dont mind taking a few lifts to get to the snow.

thanks, yes, don't mind lifts etc. It's just a good deal on ski weekends. Andorra is even better value but I don't know how snow sure that is either!

Chamonix perhaps?

Chamonix is a good snpw sure option although are you an experienced skier? Not lots for beginners there.

I would try and find places at least 1500M.

If you are going for a short break then Montgenevre is high and has had loads of snow this year. Easy to get to from Turin airport too and great for all levels of skiers.

I would go to Flaine. It is near Geneva and usually has good snow at that time.

I would not book La Clusaz that late.

We are going to val Thorens in April, which I think is pretty snow sure

Thanks all for advice. Chamonix is a definite no, my daughter isn't a confident enough skier, although I have skied la Vallee Blanche in my time!!!

Will have a look at Flaine. Never been as late as April before so hence needing the advice of you good people!

Don’t go to Courmayeur - unless you are lucky it’s porridge by lunch in mid March! It is very sunny on the Checrouit side. Other times a lovely place for a visit but bit limited for beginners

We're going to Samoens in April. It starts at 1600m. Not far from flaine and I think about an hour transfer from Geneva. It's a lovely little town and there's loads of green runs and blues at the top of the gondola.
