Les Gets in January

I am going to Les Gets in January for 3 days with some friends who are skiing, I’m going for the relaxation of some quiet time. I’ve never skii’d or been to a ski resort before. Will Dr Maartens be ok for walking around in? How cold should I expect it to be? Thanks

I'd have thought they'd be fine. It could be very cold though, it's weather, it's unpredictable.

Take some proper snow boots. If you go up lifts as a pedestrian to meet friends you will need them.
Mountain warehouse has cheap snow boots.

When you get off cable car in mountain as a pedestrian you can be ankle or even knee deep.in soft snow walking over to the mountain restaurant .. dr M may not be snow proof enough. Tho if you don't mind wet socks ..... look at trespass as well.for sale discounted snow boots

You can hire raquettes and poles (to strap on over your snow boots) in most of the hire places and you can get a return pedestrian lift pass on the Chavannes bubble to meet at Le Grand Cry restaurant (not the one closest to the lift). On the Mont Chery side, there are also some lovely routes with nice views and easy meeting points.

I would splash out on a good pair of snow boots (properly waterproof and lined). warm wool socks and dress in ski trousers and jacket with layers as if you were skiing. Borrow or buy second hand if you need to. It will allow you to be more comfortable while you are out in the snow.

I think they will be fine. Presumably when you go up the lifts you will just be walking to a restaurant?
Roads and pavements in resort should be cleared regularly.
If I were you I would keep an eye out on the forecast just before you go. If it's looking like snowing 30+ cm on several days whilst you are there buy some cheap snow boots but if not, yours will be fine.

I forgot my snow boots when we went to les gets the first time and just had my dr m knee high boots and got cold and soggy. I’d get some cheap moon boots or wellies with thick socks be better my kids were ok with wellies & socks and salloppettes over the top they only got snow in them when sledging.

Much cheaper to pick.up.some snow boots in mountain warehouse than buying in resort....
