Flashing banner ads

Just had to stop reading a thread because the flashing banner ad was giving me a headache. Please stop! I don’t even know what it was an ad for, some clothing brand I think, it was a woman with sunglasses then a blue banner with writing on, alternating in a frenzy every second or so. Didn’t read the lettering as I was trying to cover it with my hand to read the thread! Just awful.

I know you keep trying new kinds of ad to see what works, so just let me say, this doesn’t! It does the opposite - I left the page and am now going to get some paracetamol and will do some work instead of MNing.

Hi MyRelationshipIsWeird,

We're so sorry to hear that this has affected your usability on the site. We've flagged to our adops team right away and someone should be along soon to find out what's going on here.

In the meantime, can we ask what device and browser you're using? Can we also ask what thread you were on when this happened?

Once again, so sorry about this and we'll do our absolute best to sort it out.

Hello. Just had it again, it says “Bringing you the latest looks for less”

I’m on my iPad on Safari and the thread was an AIBU (trending) by PeedOffGirlfriend about being pissed off with her boyfriend.

Thanks. Again, had to leave the thread when I was about to comment, as it gave me a headache! I’m not usually sensitive to things like this, but it’s instant, don’t know if it’s the time of night, the particular colours or what - my iPad is on nighttime mode, so subdued light with a yellow tone, but those ads are evil!
