Hi there Violletta - thanks for posting. Just to clarify, is it the Luvabella 'skin' ad that's causing you trouble?

Dear God, that's giving me a migraine just looking at the screenshot!

I won't be whitelisting MN on my Adblock Plus any time soon, I'm afraid.

whatslovegottodo, we can see that's actually an AdChoices advert - which are are pop-up ads based on your browsing history, using cookies. They are highlighted by a small blue triangle in the corner. These aren't a part of Mumsnet - so we aren't able to remove that, we're afraid.

how is that not part of mumsnet? Surely you own the site? And content?

Not that part. That's what happens when you sell a soul space to the devil ad agencies.

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but I keep getting an Xbox advert opening up a new page
www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one-x?OCID=AID620863_OLA_20327922_207722301_94292163

I was reading this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3074879-WIBU-to-bring-the-pumpkins-in
It's happened quite a few times on different threads - and only Xbox, nothing else.

Hey Itlante,

How odd! Do you mean you're browsing on Xbox when this happens or it's just an advert for Xbox?

Can we grab the usual information? Browser, device etc. Also, could you grab a screenshot if it happens again?

It's an advert page for the new Xbox. It happens when I'm looking at threads on Mn, then this page pops up - I've put the page link in my post above.
I'm on a chromebook: Version 61.0.3163.123 (Official Build) (64-bit) using Chrome.
It hasn't happened today so far, but has been happening over the last few days.

Those intrusive drop-down adverts are the reason I have just loaded an adblocker. I just can't put up with them any more, they interfere with being able to actually read the threads.

It used to be the case that if you were logged in to the site you were spared the ads. Surely too many ads everywhere are going to make more and more people turn to adblockers?

I have also downloaded an ad blocker for the first time in my life thanks to the obnoxious ads on MN.

When ads stop taking up half the page & otherwise interfering with us using the site, I’ll whitelist MN.

The adverts are getting really very annoying now. I don't mind a small banner at the top, but EVERY time I click on a thread, half the screen (on a laptop!) is taken up by a massive ad at the top. Where I used to be able to read a full screen of comments on a thread, I can now only see a few comments and have to wait for the massive banner to disappear to see more. Even if I scroll down it takes a while for the advert to disappear.

And arghhhhhhhhhhhhh
The massive had page adds are also appearing when I post

Almost half the screen is covered by one ad every time I open up the site. Then I remember I turned off the adblocker. Why do these things have to be so HUGE?
