Why do I keep getting logged out?

I used to just be permanently logged in, now suddenly every time I come back after a few hours or overnight I have to log in again. I always check the box to stay logged in but it doesn't matter. It's a huge faff. What am I doing wrong?

I'm on an iPhone 7 if that's relevant, using safari as I'd rather not install a separate app.

Actually now that you mention it I just double checked and somehow my phone had switched to private browsing. I swear I didn't do that! It has happened randomly before so I should have thought of it. I'm really sorry for troubling you!
