Really angry at Daily Mail

Is there any way something can be added to terms and conditions or similar to prevent news sites reusing stuff. A short term view would be wahey! More traffic! Wrong sort though, and it's killing off the chat safety.

Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do about the Daily Mail using threads, as they would be likely to claim Fair Use and that would be quite hard to challenge.

We always like to remind people that Mumsnet is a public forum, accessible to anybody, and all information is public, so it's worth keeping this in mind when posting identifiable stuff.

We know it's hugely frustrating, though, and we wish that we could do more in these situations - especially when it's leaving our users upset and, rightfully, pretty cross.

It is a real shame those prats do this.
People really do open up on here in ways they wouldn't in real life. Real life support can be non-existent for some.
I think when MH support is disappearing in the NHS it is easy to see why people seek help/solace on here. I have found so much great support that has really helped.

What a shame that they only see someone's personal crisis as juicy click bait.

The Daily Fail don't go for the MH threads though.

They tend to go for the funnies, or the querkies. People ought to know if they create a story that is a page filler for the DM, then they need to beware of what they post in tinternet.

I am not a Daily Fail apologise, but I have to say some of the campaigning they do for vulnerable people has been outstanding. Wasn't Blackman's reduction in sentence significantly helped by the DM campaign?

What 'Chat safety'?

There is no safety on a public forum and never has been.

What chat safety has there ever been? The newspapers have been lifting threads for a long time and it's not rocket science to know that stuff you post on a very public forum (that always comes up high on google searches) could be found by the person you're writing about.

If you think your thread could 'out' you and cause problems if someone recognises you then don't post it on a public forum!
