MN HQ, how many reports does it take before you will actually either act or at very least comment on a thread?

Yes inspired by a particular thread, but why is it that some threads are responded to quickly whereas others take days? I can't believe this particular thread hasn't had multiple reports, and if it's not questionable why MN HQ haven't commented on it?

Hi there wannaBe,

We try to respond to reports as soon as possible - some days are much busier than others and as such, we do have to triage them into priority order.

We try hard to make the right call on each report, which can sometimes take a bit of time to get right. Please do keep reporting, we know we sound like a broken record but we absolutely rely on Mumsnetters to report to us.

The thing is you are very quick to delete people's warnings that something is amiss, but then leave the original thread for too long.

People were becoming very emotionally invested in that particular thread, you need to invest more resources, particularly when a subject is sensitive or likely to touch an emotional nerve with people who have experienced something similar.

Agree with silver actually the thread I was talking about was a different one from the one which Silver was deleted on, however I do wonder whether if MN HQ receive a number of reports of a post for troll hunting whether it would be prudent to check the thread out before just deleting the "troll hunting" post?

On the DS thread silver was deleted For voicing a suspicion (I didn't see the post but presume she did) she was subsequently flamed on the thread and it ended up being deleted anyway for being a troll (I reported that one also fwiw). If MN HQ had, at the time of silver being reported, looked into the thread in question they would have realised then that it was a troll and the whole thread could have been pulled rather than maintain the illusion that it was real and Silver was in the wrong iyswim.

I do realise that troll hunting isn't ideal, however I think that if someone calls on a thread and that post is reported, then is surely a good time for MN HQ to put two and two together and realise that a thread is currently ongoing that is stow sing suspicion somewhere and to look into it then and there rather than waiting for the reports of the actual thread...

Hi both - what can happen is that a troll hunting post is reported to us. We go to take a look, and delete if necessary. We do then look at the thread and at the OP, but this can sometimes take quite a lot longer.

We do understand where you're both coming from and we'll have a chat about how we can improve this method of doing things.
