There is a small piece in Street Of Shame (p6) about the post by Louise Mensch and how rubbish it was and how rubbish we thought it was.

"Mumsnet made an odd choice asking former Conservative MP and and internet addict Louise Mensch to write a tribute to Tony Benn, which she introduced by telling readers he was "a man I never actually met".

Of her seven paragraph guest post on the parenting website, three whole paragraphs were dedicated to saying how much Benn had respected Margaret Thatcher. Mumsnetters were deeply unimpressed and said so in their droves.

That didn't stop Mensch from repeating the point in her Sun on Sunday column, where again it turned out that the key thing about Benn was, er, how much he liked Mrs Thatcher. "She meant what she said and said what she meant" she quoted."

It was not one of MNHQ''s best decisions to ask "internet addict" (arf) Mensch to do a tribute to Benn.
