Website intro: why has Talk been removed?

The sub-set forums have been been re-jigged, presumably to get rid of the AIBU default.

But why get rid of Talk? You're pissing in your own chips, MNHQ.

It now takes three clicks to get to where I want to be, instead of one. And I know where I'm going, but what about newbies?

Try the TES mode, where all forums are available down the side when you're on any one forum. Oh, hang on, that would leave no room for your advertisers, who are more and more evidently important then your members.

Seeing the massive list (on Advanced Search 'choose topics'), I don't think it would be sensible to list them all. Adverts fund a web site like this, so any arguments against web pages carrying adverts need to be considered with 'and I'd be willing to pay XX pounds per year not to have adverts.

Years ago, there was a regularly run advert on CNN comparing newspapers with adverts costing say 50p and without adverts costing 5 pounds. I don't know the running costs for the web sites run for MN/GN but as well as the web they have various members of staff to pay for, too.

Sorry echt I'm not quite sure what you're saying. We removed the links to most popular forums on the drop down nav because we were finding folks were ignoring the other forums and just posting everything in the popular ones - eg AIBU - but not sure what you mean by "getting rid of Talk"?
Could you expand? txs
