  • the one satirising the still-in-place thread about male nursery workers taking children in their care to the toilet and how this signals the downfall of Western civilisation (or something) due to the fact that all men are paedophiles.

so, if i helpfully start a thread called 'all men are paedophiles' that one will be left to run?

Hello. Yes, it was deleted because it was a thread about another thread - and seemed to us to have been started in order to attack the OP of that other thread.

I think it was actually started to attack the horrendous sexism displayed by some posters on the other thread and to point out how appalling it is that some types of bigotry are regarded as unacceptable while others go unchallenged.

i accept that it was a thread about a thread, however - but in the interest of seeing fair play, there were at least four threads started about that thread since it began. I do hope all of those have been deleted - although the one I was just reading had got to 700-odd posts so maybe not Hmm

Given that, you must forgive me for not being entirely convinced by your explanation, HelenMumsnet, but thank you very much for providing one.

I've often wondered, what exactly is wrong with a thread about a thread?

No-one knows, TheFarSide, and you're not allowed to ask. Remember, ignorance is strength.
