GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin"

What's your effin' point, love? Ageist, much? Hmm

you have found a comment on a thread which you dislike. rather than A) commenting on that thread or B) messaging BIWI privatly you have started an entire thread just to try and goad a reaction or for others to pile in in agreement with your judgment on her post.

pathetic and childish.

It is sunny, try and get out more

I am sure biwi will be touched by your defence. What's your excuse for being on MN, then?

Pineneedles - have you been on MN long/before?

The reason that comment made me smile, and why I c+p it on to a thread here is that Per Una regularly/routinely gets slagged off on MN.

A fashion line that was launched by M&S to appeal to younger women has been very successful in attracting a much older consumer.

I just thought it was very funny that a (presumably older) shopper was confirming that very stereotype.

It was not intended to be an ageist remark and, if you've been on here for any length of time you will have seen me on more threads than I care to mention trying to put a stop to ageist comments on Mumsnet. Posts along the lines of "I'm 22, am I too old to wear a ___".

I am also, for your information, nearly 52, so no spring chicken.

And, in case you were thinking it, I'm not slagging off Gransnet or its posters. Indeed, I have been on there from the very beginning helping to get it going by posting and responding to other posters.

Mumsnet is something I enjoy and it has become quite embarrassingly dear to me, so I hope very much that Gransnet is as successful as its parent site, which is why I have not only been posting on it, but have also been tweeting and re-tweeting about it.

I have not been slagging anyone off, and I'm sorry if you thought I was.

And Grin and thank you to all of you who rushed to my defence!

becauseimworthit - I did find your post hurtful. Nobody likes being laughed at. It felt as though someone had been spying on me and then laughing to their mates behind my back. I don't think that can be in the spirit Granset was invented.
I have shooed darling daughter back to her marking. Grin

Mamazon I have "known" you for years via Mn and I am surprised you used that language.

Report
Mamaz0n · 08/05/2011 15:46

then I think you misunderstood.

I am not a member of gransnet and can only judge by the comment copied here. From that message i would say that BIWI was complimenting you on making a funny remark.

not really sure why you would be hurt or upset. nor why your daughter would feel the need to post this thread.

I'm sorry if you felt hurt, jangly, that was not my intention at all. I was not laughing or pointing fun at you at all. I thought the comment was funny, given the multitudes of threads about Per Una on here.

I'm not sure why you think I was spying though - I'm on Gransnet with exactly the same name as I am here, and I have announced on Gransnet that I'm there from Mumsnet, so it's hardly cloak and dagger!

However, I suppose it can be seen as a 'thread about a thread', even if it was talking about one forum on another and so, for that, I apologise.

BecauseImWorthIt · 08/05/2011 15:57

And I'm not a 'snobby cow', thank you very much, jangly - I think that was just a leetle uncalled for.

I thought it was funny too.

The poster is either
a) making reference to the fact that Per Una is considered by a number of people on MN as being 'for grannies'
or
b) showing that gans do like Per Una, as is the accepted stereotype

So it is a funny comment either way.

usualsuspect · 08/05/2011 16:01

I'm a gran and wouldn't be seen dead in wear per una

now bon marche on the other hand......
