Chronic Epididymitis

Hi!

My husband was diagnosed with Chronic Epididymitis about 18 months ago. The doctors say that this was a result of his vasectomy almost 20 years ago. He has managed to wean himself off a raft of painkilling drugs (tramadol, naproxen, amitryptyline) and now his day to day pain (agony!) has reduced significantly.

He feels ready to resume our sex life, and with this in mind we started out by taking a shower together and trying some kissing and very gentle mutual touching. This was going well, and there was no problem gaining an erection, until his testicles contracted (I think this happens as part of arousal?) which was very painful for him.

Has anyone suffered from this? Do you have any ideas how we can address this pain?

Thank you for reading if you got this far!

I've had this a few times in the last few years, and it's absolutely awful. Can't imagine what it must be like to live with for your husband. Like him I had a vasectomy about 15 years ago. Sorry, no handy tips to offer, just sympathy.

my DH changed his underwear to close fitting boxer shorts with some clever elastic support in , termed training which have seemed to help .

Funny how common this is. DH wouldn't have a vasectomy as a couple of his friends/colleagues had similar after vasectomies and were fairly poorly

Yes indeed, apparently it's very common indeed many years down the line. 😔

I thought I had this for years (it’s vomit inducing pain!) until a very knowledgeable doctor examined me and diagnosed me with a varicose vein at the epididymis. I wear tight underwear, even in bed and any time I don’t, it reappears. Knowing this changed my life!

Gosh sounds really awful. Can't help but my DH refused to have a vasectomy because of some examples of friends and colleagues that had some problems afterwards which sound similar to this...one really awful and I don't feel able to force the issue in case he suffers like this and I will feel responsible

Contraception can be a right pain although I'm happy with the Mirena and not having periods currently
