Sex

DH only properly erect every now and then

DH is fit, mid 40s, doesn't smoke, moderate drinker. We have sex approx 3 times a week but a lot of those times his penis just isn't fully erect. This is less enjoyable for me and sometimes I can't really feel it. When it is properly hard it is great and sex is fantastic.

I have asked him about this and it seems he doesn't always realise it is not fully erect. Is that possible? He says he's tired or has a lot on at work (his job is stressful). I am not majorly dissatisfied - he always makes me orgasm, but I just wish it was hard all the time. Any one else have experience of this?

How long has it been this way?

My husband is mid 40's and I've recently noticed a slight difference too, so this could be an age thing? I haven't mentioned anything yet as wasn't sure if this is temporary or not.

Mr Mightyfine steps in to say... I’m late 40s and in recent years erections seemed, well, slower to arrive and quicker to depart. I’m healthy, fit and active, etc so no obvious reasons. Meant to talk to the dr for a few years but haven’t had any other reason to go, and so didn’t get around to it. Then tried viagra connect when it came out, buying from on-line from a well known pharmacy was easy. Um, whoa. I can’t remember it ever being THAT stiff. It’s worth a try. Did have hangover-like side effects at first but they seem to have reduced. Also, once it didn’t seem to work, maybe due to following a meal too closely. It’s not cheap, but I t’s certainly worth a try.

Try the viagra, you’ll find the non branded sildenafil cheaper.

More likely age, youth's one eyed monster that can look it's owner in the eye will one day only tell you if your shoes need a clean! I think it's the only organ in the body that doesn't get stronger with frequent exercise.

Depends on his ego how you mention it. I suggest seeing GP to ensure it's safe to take viagra.

It is a fact that about 50% of men over 40 will have erectile dysfunction issues. I am sure that your husband is aware of his semi-erect state, but he may be unwilling to acknowledge it. You really ought to talk about it.

I second the use of bit of chemical assistance, if his health permits it. The planning that is need takes away the joy of spontaneity, but the diamond-cutter erections more than make up for it.
