Discreet/melting lubes ?

I'm in my forties and I'm finding that I'm dry even when I'm turned on (it must be an age thing - in my 20s, I'd get "wet" with even a kiss and cuddle). I know that I need to use lube for PIV sex to avoid damage - I don't like stopping proceedings to administer KY or Durex lube - so I apply before we go to bed if I expect things to happen - but I like to warm up with foreplay. Last night, 30 seconds into foreplay, DH asked if I had been masturbating before he jumped into bed - I don't like to tell him that I put lube on. Years ago I read about some sort of bead that you insert before the start of proceedings that melts slowly and replicates the arousal process. I'd like to get some of these - does anyone know about them and where you can get them??

If you've found this page in search of lubes that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best lubes useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

You can get massage bars/liquid that double up as intimate lube. Maybe try those as a part of your foreplay build up?

There is something called replens I think it's called that I used to use, works well and can be administered before bed discreetly

If you're in your mid to late 40s you're probably pre-menopausal so please go and see your doctor for a chat. I'm mid 50s and in a new relationship post divorce and post menopause and found sex with new man (who I fancy like mad 😀) was very dry. I was prescribed Vagifem (a topical HRT) you insert twice a week and it really has made a huge difference. I also have a little bottle of Sylk lubricant on the bedside table. Please don't be embarrassed about needing a little help as you get older, it's perfectly normal and happens to most of us!

Is there a reason why you can't just chat with your husband and say ' I'm a little bit drier at the moment due to hormonal changes, let's use a decent lube?'

I was about to say the same as tatteredowl it's certainly nothing to be ashamed about.

I've had to accept vaginal dryness, had it for 2 years and the Dr can't give me an answer why it happens. Had blood tests for menopause and doesn't show anything. Guess sometimes it's just one of those things isn't it?

I feel your pain Im only 28 and I cant get wet naturally no matter how turned on I am.
I keep a bottle of lube next to the bed and my DP doesnt even bat an eyelid now about using it, we use it as part of foreplay so he can apply it himself and make it fun.

Deumavan was given to me by my gynaecologist when I was with my stbxh.

It's got a melting texture, no odour and tasteless.
