Helpful Resources for Spanish GCSE please

Year 10 DS is struggling with Spanish. He's dyslexic and was told Spanish is the easier language to learn ( a language is compulsory)

Other than buying revision style books, is there anything else I can throw in the mix to help him?
He likes computers! Or any You Tune or TV suggestions?
He's currently working at Grade 4. But this is with minimal effort.
Going to help him make flash cards in half term to catch up a bit.

The most important elements of GCSE MFL are vocabulary - so learning the new vocab for each topic on a regular basis - and verbs - regular verbs in all the tenses and the key irregular verbs.

He could watch Spanish films (tho they are mostly rather rude!) or things like Disney films in Spanish version, but while thathelpsbhim hear the language, there's no easy substitute for leaning verbs plus vocab.

Flash cards, mind maps, podcasts, duo lingo, Memrise are all good.

Quizlet has tons of vocab in flash card form - get him to search for his textbook and the module
languages online has self marking activities
memories
BBC bitesize

Ask him to email his teacher and say he is looking for websites to revise - they will be able to provide a list

There is a language program that schools use called quizlet, you could have a look at that (not sure if the school need an account but worth a try)

Good afternoon,
I read your post regarding Spanish for your son.
I am a native speaker, qualified teacher and I tutor 1:1 GCSE and A level.
Last year, I had a student who was predicted a grade 1 at the beginning of year 10. We worked really hard for almost a year and he got a 5!
If your son is working on a grade 4 at the moment with minimal effort, I am convinced that he can improve his grades if he works more often, learn basic vocabulary and learn practising the 4 skills.
From my experience, I think that Spanish was the right choice. It is a phonetic language so he will find easy to speak and read. This will help him to memorise vocabulary.
From there, he can build up the listening and writing skills in the language. This will boost his confidence too.

There are books from Amazon he can buy and help him to revise & learn the language.

BBC bitesize has great resources too.

I’m a head of mfl and would suggest Seneca learning website for the exam board content, vocabulary and grammar elements. It’s free to use. Bitesize is also good for explanation and practise of topics and grammar. Oak academy I find hit and miss but their lessons on structuring writing tasks are often well done. The other site worth looking at is language gym which has boxing and rock climbing games to practise vocabulary and grammar as well as sentence building.
