Hi everyone, my first post on Mumsnet...daughter is in Year 5 and would be sitting entrance exams for secondary in January. Been overseas and out of the loop with the whole entrance exam situation so was wondering if I could ask:

Which schools near Twickenham/Surrey/West London in your opinion are good for creative arts/sports? She is not the type to thrive in a overly pressurised and academic environment.

Thanks!

waldegrave secondary is worth a look (link included to school website), however it would depend on if you were in the catchment area (it is a state school). If you are looking for an independent school, Notre Dame secondary (link to school website) is worth a look depending on whereabouts you are, you can check the coach routes on the school website if you would like your dd to take the school bus, or look at public transport routes.

Try Claremont Fan Court in Esher or Sir William Perkins in Chertsey. St George's Weybridge is sporty/arty too but competitive to get into. They all have extensive school bus networks.

Well it all depends on how much you are prepared to travel. If you are in twickenham and can face a very early bus and a long day, then SWIPS or Claremont fan , but closer to home check out St catherines. Their art is very good and lots of opportunities to do sport as well. As a curve ball, try hampton court house which is a great choice for a slightly quirkier child. If she is academic and sporty then try surbiton high school - but academic pressure and size of school are an issue for some
