Weekend homework habits

Hi, when does your child do their homework on the weekends? From what i gather, most GCSE year children do it anywhere between 3-9pm on weekdays, but what about weekends?

My son does his on Sunday morning but what about everyone else? He's in his GCSE year now and am trying to figure out how best to help him schedule his time.

DD2 is y10, at the moment she does some on Saturday morning and some on Sunday morning. We have a 'rule' of get the jobs out of the way first. Plus with DD leaving things until later is never a good idea as she gets more tired and more stressed about it.

It doesn't take all the morning - well it does but only because each task is interspersed with TV. Grin

Depends what else we/they are doing. I'd say most homework is done in the afternoon and quite a bit last thing on Sunday :) There are generally breaks between times.

If you are "helping" your son to schedule his time, why not ask him when he wants to work? knowing that 90% of GCSE students work between 10 and 12 on a Saturday morning doesn't mean he has to.

Ds generally spends Saturdays with friends and Sunday afternoon/evening at his youth theatre so any homework/revision is done on Friday night or Sunday morning.

My younger ds (year 8) does his on a Sunday morning, but my eldest (year 11) does his on and off during the weekend. Fair amount on Sunday afternoons.

DD likes to do it straightaway, so lots on Fridays after school. Rarely anything on a Saturday, if any is left she would do it Sunday, usually in the afternoon. She spends days and whole weekends happily pottering about doing art projects.

Well at 9.30 pm on Sunday DD1 remembered she had a history test on Monday morning so she did an hour of revision then and then did some reading on Monday lunchtime before her history lesson in the afternoon. Wouldn't recommend it as a strategy though Hmm.

(Normally she's pretty organised but we'd had visitors for the weekend).
