Has anyone from Hatfield ever got into Dame Alice Owen's or SWHerts schools?

Thinking of getting DD to do the 11+ exams but just wondered if any child from Hatfield ever got into Dame Alice Owen's, Parmiters, Queens or Watford Girls School.

I know we are in the catchment area for DAO but right on the egde, so I have little hope if it's by distance to school criteria. :( Not sure about the SWHerts Consortium Schools, so do we bother doing the exams anyway.

Can anyone help/advise? Would really like to hear other peoples views. TIA x

Have a look on the Forum bit of the elevenplusexams website. There is a section on DAO/Herts/N London schools and a very knowledgeable poster called daogroupie who will be able to advise on DAO and all of the other schools in that area.

My DCs went to DAO and I know one of them had Hatfield friends in the 6th form. You'd never get in on distance there so I guess it would have to be exam or music. Good luck ... it was a fantastic school for us!

I live in Hatfield and a few of DS’s classmates from primary school went into there. I think they probably got in based on the entrance exam though.

If you look at point 2.3 on this link
www.watfordgrammarschoolforgirls.org.uk/_site/data/files/documents/admissions/admissions%20criteria/28EE0AE245B795AA93134A628945730F.pdf
You can see the postcodes WGGS takes girls from.
If you don't live in this postcode or plan to move into one of these areas, there is no point in doing the test unless your postcode qualifies for another SWHC school.
We know a few kids who live outside the areas who sat the exams, got fantastic marks and didn't get places. A couple of them appealed but to no avail.

Thank you FiveHoursSleep, that is very useful to know. Just read that Palmiter's leave 5% of there intake to other areas and they do not have a catchment area.
