IB Results 2019

Hi

Anyone else waiting?

Apparently schools get results tomorrow but ours at least isn't letting the kids come in to get them - they have to wait till 2:45pm on Sat! UCAS saying Friday which is annoying. Firm saying they don't get them till Monday. No word from insurance. All too confusing. DD1 s highly stressed. Letting her sleep as much as possible. Didn't do GCSEs as at an international school so this is the first major set (she did an extra cert last year so we have been through logging in before). She has a super high target and while school grades would indicate she should achieve it we know too many who haven't in the past and frankly the school's record on predicted is not stellar (they tend to overestimate). DD2 is moving schools as a result as we need more confidence.

Anyways if anyone else is out there stressing, happy to commiserate.

Another IB parent here.

DC1's 6th form originally gave them all individual appointment times throughout Friday morning & early afternoon. Just today they were emailed with a single later time. Shambles, but still Friday 😀

DC1 is attempting distraction by extra shifts at work.

Hey - I’ve ‘met’ you both on another thread. DS also waiting for IB results via the log in method on Saturday.
He’s happy with that - not sure he’s taken much notice of the fact that it is possible to get the results on Friday.

Would be interesting if his firm or insurance sent an email tomorrow confirming acceptance or otherwise. Wonder if this could happen?

DC1 is turning off internet & all notifications on their phone tomorrow, just in case of a uni email, or lack of uni email. Their classmates are doing the same. They're all meeting up for a late lunch before going en masse for their results.

Strict instructions to log into the family WhatsApp group to tell us the results!

Does anyone know when the results come out in other countries? I know about logging in on Saturday and thought that was the only way to get them, but now it seems in the UK you can get them tomorrow.

Logging in on Saturday is the option that the IB advertise.
I presumed it was like A levels and GCSEs in the UK where the school knows what students got the day before results are officially released.

Thanks. We shall log in tomorrow. Not long to go now.

Not great news from us. Needed 34 with 655 in Highers, or 33 for insurance. Got 31, with 555. Hoped for 664 in Standards was 644 instead and just 2 for Core.

Got an A for the EE which is directly relevant to the degree. DC1 has spoken to Admissions at their Firm choice and they said they'll take the A into consideration but can't make a decision until next week.

DC1 is calm though and has gone out as planned with friends. The friendship group had a mixed bag of results, so they're not the only one disappointed.

Fingers crossed that Saturday's results are better for you all!

Yes, very best of luck for all your DCs, and fingers crossed for your DC for the uni's decision next week too, BOTS.

I did the IB way back in the 1980s Shock and think it's a great qualification. It really does help you quickly switch to the more independent style of working once you land at uni.

So - DS got 42 points for his IB and is absolutely ecstatic. So far - all of his closest friends have got what they needed too. I imagine the pub will be full tonight!
Needed 38 points for university so off to his firm choice university too.

Mini-update. Firm has rejected. 3 points off was too much, even with an A in a highly relevant EE. On to insurance now, but we're 2 points off that.

At least there is plenty of time to look at other potential places with similar courses. A 'new' uni in the same city as the Firm choice has same niche subject, so that's the currently favoured Plan C.

@BringOnTheScience - Sorry to hear that. It’s hard to get a high score in the EE so it’s annoying that more consideration wasn’t taken of this. Hope DC can take a good look at clearing options and get a course that they really like.
Good luck.
