Year 7 school report or parents evening?

When is it normal for year 7 to get the first school report or parents evening? I would just like to know how my dc is getting on (as it's the first year at high school), but until now there was no report or parents evening, is this normal?

I would imagine this varies by school but at my DC's school there is a report at the end of every term and 1 parents' evening a year. From memory the Year 7 parents' evening is towards the end of the year - May or June, so in terms of lack of either of these so far, your DC might be going to the same school :)

There is a chance to meet your child's tutor early in Year 7, but this is related to how they are settling in and not academics.

To be fair, we wouldn't have had a report or parents' evening, by the beginning of November, in primary school either ... No news is generally good news! (if there had been a problem, you would know about it!)

Depends on the school. You should ask when it is - it will be planned in.

Look in He school website there is usually a calendar for both parents evening and reports

Already had our Y7 parents evening just before half term. Will get a report card at the end of this term and the spring term and then a full report at the end of the summer term/school year.

Our school issues a report (numbers only, no sentences) right at the end of each term.

It has one parents evening per year group per year. Y7 is in the summer term. But y7s also have a 'meet the tutor' in October.

We can tell behaviour from 'stamps in the planner', son 'only' need to check academics.

y8 is Nov and y9 is Jan. So by the time we get our y9 one it will be 14 months since the previous one.

It took a bit of getting used to with DD1, but I have found it fine (and I am quite hands on). Ask your DC to bring some exercise books home if you need to.

IME (as teacher and parent) Yr 7 parents eve is in summer term.

The school I worked in gave parents a report (working at, above or below target, predicted grade at end of year and any barriers to learning) twice a term.

For dd we had a report in October, parents evening was March

Ds we had a report in December, parents evening was March.
