My son is at Bloxham and absolutely loves it. The class sizes are small (12) and really tailored towards what individual children need rather than catering for the masses it has a knack of finding each child’s strength and developing that. It is a small school so much more caring and the head genuinely knows every child. Most full board at 13 however I like the flexibility of picking and choosing a few nights a week most Saturday evenings there is a social of some sort. The facilities are great especially the DT block. I would say this is a much gentler boarding experience than some of the bigger names nearby

From the school’s own information, around 50% board but lots of these are flexible boarding as described above. Full boarding, all weekends with exeats only, is not so popular. Definitely a local school for localish children.

Thank you J20kt thats helpful. Do you find they are pushed enough, my son is bright but not hugely academic if that makes sense but he does need to be challenged. It felt a friendly school when we looked around but ive heard a few negatives about the headmaster (not pushing enough). He would flexi board which works well for our family and i personally like the gentle atmosphere as long as its not too apathetic!!

My son was the same not hugely academic I’ve found that the small classes have helped massively - there’s no place to hide with 12 kids so his performance has really improved. The learning is quite tailored to their capability. I rate the headmaster he is approachable but if you are looking for a pushy academic school that’s not Bloxham. If you are looking for somewhere that will get the best out of a child who would have otherwise bumbled along I think it’s great.
