Hi... DD exam is over 10 hours end of this week and early next.

She had expected to do lots of prep but has been really knocked out by new anti-depressant side effects (and serious mental health issues over Easter, with emergency referral & 24/7 watch).

She's meant to hand in

  1. All prep work for final piece end of this week
  2. Rest of portfolio early next (ie by end of final exam)

Is there any way we might persuade them she can hand both in by end of final exam, ie giving her Bank HOliday weekend to finish them?
Regulations say not but Im not sure if with psychiatrists letter we might change this?

She won't finish but would be able to do more.... which would of course be good for her mental health as Art is something she really loves and had expected to do well in

Agree with previous poster - do it now so you know the situation, you have nothing to lose.

Yes, OP. Please call the exams officer at your school now, before they leave school today. They can apply for different procedures for your child. Also consider how this will affect her other GCSEs. Be honest with the officer and give them all the medical paperwork you can asap. If you struggle to get through to them today/tomorrow (it is their busiest time) then call the head teacher.

I’m liaising with the examinations officer because my daughter’s health is causing significant issues at the moment and they’ve been extremely helpful.

I’ve provided supporting documentation from our GP to evidence the support they’ve put in place and they’re doing everything they possibly can to help.

Make contact ASAP and get the support she needs. Good luck.

Huge thanks all... I've learnt I have time to get hte letter in... but the Art timescales seem immovable, but Im not sure if this is accurate.

DD already has SEN and we had the strange situation of SENCO advising one thing and Exam Officer denying it existed....So feel I may need to go straight to the Board!
