Transport from Cheshunt (En8 9ly) to DAO

Hi All. I am new to mumsnet. Does anyone know how safe bus 242 from cheshunt to dame alice Owens is? Or if there is a private arrangement from Cheshunt (prime place en8 9ly). Also wanted to check if anyone has kids going from Borehamwood? My daughter just got admission into the school and I am confused about where to buy a house. There are only two choices here. Borehamwood or Cheshunt (En8 9ly)

Hello DAOmum. I personally know pleanty of children take the 242 bus to DAO. However, it is from Cuffley. So far I have yet to hear anything bad at all. I would happily send my child on that bus if they were attending the school. I see the bus several times a day and it has a mixture of school children and the elderly.

To add: I am very familiar with the area of Cheshunt you have given. There is a lot of investment going on there with the new houses and flats, plus the rebuilding of the local secondary. Although I don’t live there- the area seems ok and very close to Goffs Oak which is a very nice area. I know nothing about Borehamwood, but I have driven through a good few times. If I had a choice; I’d chose Cheshunt only because I know the area very welll and your dd would have a straight forward journey. Well done to your dd securing a place at a Brilliant school.

Borehamwood has definitely improved but it’s not a great place to live by choice. The local secondary school has a lot of issues. There won’t be many who go to DAO but those that do may end up on the 626 from Barnet as there’s no direct bus.

Ask on the elevenplusexams forum. Tons of advice there on DAO and transport (look in 'regions').
