Gordon's school - how close to live?

How close do I realistically need to live within the catchment to this school and have a good chance of gaining a place please? I have read admissions but couldn't find anything on furthest allocated space. Thank you.

This reckons day students will need to live within around 600 metres.

........ although apparently this year the catchment moved out to just over 2000m which is a huge change from a few years ago when it was c470m - think the sibling policy has made a difference.

Yes, I believe the catchment area is quite a lot wider now, if you google Surrey secondary allocations 2017 you will find a PDF (look in the Surrey Heath section) which states that it went to 2.3km which is huge. We know children there and hear that it's a fab school.

Thanks Helen. Appreciate the advise. Would you say the school is worth moving house for? I'm in rented accommodation so looking to move into a good catchment and be nearer to London for work. I will go to the open day eventually but my dcs are a year younger an apparently open days are only for yr5 students.

It depends on loads of things! Are you vaguely in the area at the moment or moving from the other side of the country? If you are going to have to commute, the stations aren't hugely convenient from West End (though not disastrous). You either have to go to Brookwood (good line, wrong side of the busy crossroads in rush hour) or Sunningale (increasingly slow line).

Opting for a boarding place will (or used to) dramatically increase your chances. I have friends who lived 2 miles away and their DDs both boarded (and loved it).

Hi everyone,

I was wondering whether someone could tell me whether St George's Weybridge is more or less academic than the Gordon School in Woking.

I have visited the Gordon School and it seems to be pretty academic but I was wondering whether St George's Weybridge would be better suited to my son who is strong in maths but has mild dyslexia. He has been offered a bed at the Gordon School for boarding.

What are your views of both schools in terms of pastoral care, provision for mild dyslexia and academics/results?
