Ks3 levels and year 7 - help please.

Gah. Whats wrong with the good old letter grades?!
I have been looking through my daughters levels, there's another due out soon. She's in year 7.
Her targets for end of year 9 in all subjects is a level 6 but has been told some will be adjusted to a 7. Not sure which ones until the report comes home. The first report came back in November so she was only there 3 months.
In two of her subjects (rs and history) she was last graded as currently a level 4+. Every other subject was graded as currently achieving a 5- 5 and 5+.
These mean absolutely nothing to me. Nothing at all. What do they mean? I've googled and I don't get it.
We don't pressure her anyway, we've always said just to try her best and that's good enough. But I'd still like to understand what they mean. You know where you are with a letter in place of a number. Is she doing well or not?

In the old levelling system which I imagine this is, Level 4 is the expected level for end of year 6 and level 6 is expected for end of year 9.

The GCSE grading system has recently changed and that will be 1-9 with 9 being the highest grade, better than the old A*.

Send an email to form tutor/ Head of House and ask for an explanation.
They really should explain whatever system they use on back of report.
Also, check if info somewhere on the school website.

If they are using the new 9-1 grades - a 6 is like a B in old money and a 4/4 a C (+ is at top end, - is jut hitting it) but in all honesty, we are all not really sure since they took away Levels and also won't tell us what grades 9-1 really look like. As long as her teachers have no concerns, I wouldn't worry right now.
