Drinking and taking drugs at school

Apologies but I have NC for this.

DC in year 10. A group in their year have been regularly drinking and taking drugs (smoking weed/Nox) at lunchtime (in bushes on school grounds). I know it happens at lots of schools but these children are going to afternoon classes not in a conducive state for learning and further disrupting the class. What they do on their own time is their and their parents business but should I be concerned or just let it pass. DC are getting fed up of the impact it is having in class.

I don't want to rush into school and some sage advice how to handle would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would absolutely be notifying school. Not in the sense of complaining / making a fuss, but more approaching them in confidence and telling them what has been passed on to you so that they can explore further. I wouldn't necessarily expect to hear more, but I don't think its the sort of thing you can just sit on. (That presumes you are happy to trust school not to let on it was your dc who 'told', of course.)

Bloody hell, this should be reported to the school. The school should not only be dealing with this behaviour harshly, but also should be patrolling the bushes in order to catch and deter offenders.
