Bullied at Bishops Stortford College

My daughter loved her first school. We moved and she joined Bishops Stortford college. It appeared so nice and had such good reviews but it was a nightmare. One teacher and one girl in her class took against her. She was frequently publicly berated by this teacher about her appearance and two others joined in. I later discovered that they were all in the same department. Many of the children joined this daily humiliation exercise and the bullying from the kids became physical and started to include loss and damage of her property. When I complained, it was dealt with by the teacher at the centre. Other teachers and children were kind but by this time my daughter was labelled as no good so she had no friends. I would say it was just bad luck but the behaviour of several other teachers was really bad too - she was castigated for serving over arm in tennis, I think because she was not in the team and it was assumed she couldn't play, the response to her falling behind in French was to ball her out, rather than ask why she was struggling etc. I moved her as fast as I could but she had an appalling year that will leave her scared for life. Was it her? She is now settled in a new school and is happy, popular and doing well. I'm trying to decide if I should complain further as I still get sleepless nights about all my daughter went through. If any other child had the same experience there I will. Anyone else seen the dark underbelly of that school?

Sounds horrible. What about her appearance were the teachers berating her about?

I'm not sure you should have named the school here, OP.

Naming and shaming - this isn't the forum for this. Take it up directly with school so they can answer. Awful way to deal with things, particularly ironic this post is about bullying

I agree, you've moved her. Get her help, don't try to get revenge here. Not cool.

Why cant she name the school?! I think it is very cool. It gives honest and first hand feedback for parents like us who considering to send our kid to this school. If my kid get bullied in this school, or any school, I would report to the highest level as I can. I will never tolerant for my kid get such treatment in any school!
