Show my Homework

DS1 has just started secondary, and we've been advised to use this to check homework. However the homework isn't appearing although some of the teachers seem to be setting it. It's causing stress, as he's got some in his science book, thinks he has maths, but the only one showing up is food tech. Anyone else having similar?

Have you tried looking for his maths teacher's name or his class rather than your DS logging in as himself. I hope that makes sense.... Of course it should work when he logs in and all his homework shows up, but the above may work.
Failing that get him to ask his tutor tomorrow morning and speak to his maths teacher before the homework is due.
SMH is excellent when it all works but hopefully this is just a blip!

Advice him not you to email his tutor. It then shows willing to have done it if he could find it.

And it depends on the teachers actually putting it in there! We get such a variety - stuff on SMH, bits of paper, neither. In the holidays, DD's French homework was on SMH and it came up as 23 pages (fureal!) each through a separate link. I had to sit and nurse 23 pages through our cheap printer and it was repetitive rubbish! That's another issue

We haven't been given the bloody login yet, just a general link to all of you, so we have to trawl through about 7 different classes to try and work out which homework is supposed to be done. It's really stressful. I feel your pain.

We're in our second year of SMH and it's a pain in the arse because the teachers are so inconsistent whether they use it or not. A couple of teachers have NEVER put anything on it, others are very haphazard. Some don't say the homework in class time and then it's a surprise when it appears on SMH a day or two later. One who has two classes in the same year constantly gets them mixed up and puts the wrong homework on so my son has to do a general search to look for the other group to find out what he needs to do! Some say "do the attached worksheet" but havn't downloaded a worksheet to it. Others say "finish the worksheet handed out in class" but don't download it to the system for those who missed the lesson. It's another one of those tools that sounds brilliant in theory but bloody awful in practice due to the human element involved! I genuinely don't think it will last the second year at my son's school until it just gets forgotten and allowed to wither away! (Just like their online VLE which was really good a few years ago but is now completely useless as it's so out of date it's dangerous to use it - out of date revision notes, out of date for the new GCSE exams, even mentions old examining boards that are no longer used). Always the same with schools and teachers - lots of enthusiasm for anything new, but then they just get ignored and obsolete.

I have an email from the school- apparently there is some problem with it and it should be sorted out by the end of the week. They advise he should ask the teacher about the maths in the meantime. Hopefully it should get sorted out.

Right, so found a separate login for maths which is on a separate website, so that's what was going on. Nothing like keeping us on our toes.
