That's it really, its crunch time and we need to decide. Travel wise we're in Twickenham so Waldegrave nearer. Other than that really can't choose between them. There was an earlier thread on this. MLP what did you go for in the end and is your DD happy with the choice? Thanks in advance

We went Waldegrave and are very happy. It was partially financial for us as could afford it but tight, so I will be honest there are definitely days I feel "guilty" about that being a big part of the decision. DD is settled, seems to be learning and has reasonable extra-curricular stuff. I don't really know any PHS parents to compare notes with.

I would go for the nearer school, personally, if there's nothing else to choose between them!

Even though I have a niece at PHS who is very happy, and having a great time (Y8).

Thanks so much MLP for replying and sharing your experience (I was hoping you would!) that is very reassuring and to Elibean for your words of wisdom on travel time. Financially it is just about feasible but actually I think the travel is probably the clincher.

I guess the one uncertainty we have with Waldegrave is how the school does with A Levels and uni applications. PHS has a proven record on that front.

The one unknown that made the decision really hard for us was exam results. Clearly the results are better at PHS but it is selective and it is really hard to know if a girl would get the same grades regardless of whether she went to PHS and Waldegrave.

Our DD is smart but wasn't in, say, the top half dozen in her state primary school class. We thought her confidence would be helped by being in the top of the range at Waldegrave versus lower down at PHS.

Are you sure your dd would get in at Waldegrave? It's very popular so you need to live near.

are you holding onto offers for both PHS and Waldegrave for this september?
