Received allocation results. Our 1st preference was Parmiters, but got an email stating my daughter is in waiting list 42. any idea what it means?

Sounds like you're 42 on the waiting list. In other words 42 people have to decline their offer before your child is offered a place.

Presumably you gave been offered an alternative. It is possible there will be movement on the waiting list as private school offers are declined and reoffered or other state schools shuffle their lists but it does mean 41 are ahead of your dc in order of being offered a place which is a large number.

Assuming you got the email from Herts with your actual offer?

The schools are in the process of informing parents of their position on the Continuing Interest Lists - that is what your email will be. There may be some movement as private school offers are accepted etc, but you should accept the school you have been offered in the meantime.
