Hello all,

I have a DC that is Dyslexic and is of average ability. DC is not statemented but has a lot of help from SEN teachers.

I have 3 choices of schools. Which one would you say is the best to send them to?

  1. Twyford CofE in Ealing
  2. Holland Park School
  3. West London Free School.

Any opinions on these schools will be very helpful.

Thank you.

No direct experience - but let me help you bump by saying that consensus among parents at our primary is that Twyford is excellent - people travel quite far, try music, attend church etc to have a better chance. I also see it has 91% a-c which is great.

The other two are marmite (mixed reputation) according to my memory of reading on MN - try searching.

Hopefully someone with first hand experience will come along soon.

All over subscribed so check your admission criteria carefully. All very different too - so think what would suit your DC. HPS more than twice as big as WLFS - so more experience of any particular SN by definition, but a more daunting experience for a less confident child. I thought the Twyford SN offer a bit weak when I was looking (4 years ago now tho) but all the people I know with kids there really rate it. If you have the points I would definitely go and talk to the SENCo there.

Avoid WLFS like the plague. Three headteachers in three years, and staff turnover not much better.

Thank you for your replies.

Should I make an appointment with the SENCo at all the schools? What sort of questions should I be asking.

DC is Dyslexic/Dyspraxic and has a stammer.

Could I ask for an impromptu tour of all the school if I am thinking of moving closer to them and need to decide before the September official tours.

I am so nervous of DC being bullied because of the issues I have mentioned.

As far as I know, Holland Park does not offer any tours except the massive 'cattle market' ones in September.

What about Kensington Aldridge?

Hi. My DH is in year 6 moving to secondary school in September 2015. He is academic and thrives in a small, more intimate school setting. We visited many schools both independent and state but found that Fulham Boys School - temp site Mund Street SW6 - Free COfE school - pushed the right buttons for both of us. It is very new and was wondering whether there is any feedback from any parents of children currently attending the school (or otherwise) so we can have more insight into progress to date. I have to say that the Head and teachers were very impressive when we met them and the children were very bright, polite and welcoming. Thanks so much.

And does anyone have insider feedback on St Benedict's, Ealing?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thx and rgds
