Wirral schools 11 plus late appeals

Hi I have just spoken to appeals for 11 plus. My daughter wanted to go to West Kirby school but did not pass by 6 marks. We only applied for West Kirby as we were confident she would do it. I have now applied for Wirral Grammar school for girls and had it rejected through mainstream applications 606 2000, but I am able to appeal for it again as Wirral has places and I have an appeal on 25th July2011, you need to apply to puil services appeals. You need to get these in in this week or next.

Your child presumably did not pass the two tests with an aggregate score of 236 that meets the required standard for a grammar school, so why do you believe that Wirral Grammar will accept you?
The first admission criteria is that the pupil meets the required standard unless the Independant Assessment Board agree that the pupil was somehow disadvantaged in the tests - did you not go to the IAB?
You can appeal for any school at any time, so I would not assume that the reason you have been given an appeal is because Wirral Girls is not full, by law you have to be given the right to appeal.

Yes my daughter did not reach 236 but we had some family problems at the time. so I felt that we had grounds to appeal as the family was so stressed at the time.
She is now a 4a in maths and 5b in science and 5c english, we think she thrive in a Grammar school.
What do you think my chances are of getting her in?
She does well in sports and plays football.
I have letters of support from her head etc at her school but we did not get through appeal at West Kirby so I'm not sure next Tuesday now.

It is not easy to speculate on what your chances are next week at appeal because it is not like a "normal" appeal given that a key issue is whether the pupil mets the required standard or not. Only the panel can make that decision.
