Over the years I've been on a few threads where meet ups have been discussed, do these ever happen? Have I just lost the threads? Whether Scottish or more local. I have given up on Mumsnet local now 😊

You can't access Mumsnet Local from the app anymore, so I've given up on it too.

I'm about to organise another meetup in Glasgow - either at the Tramway or the Burrell. Need to look at my diary - but it'll be midweek and not a Tuesday.

AW maybe that's why its died a death. I mean its always been slow but its just nothing now. I remember from ages ago the burrell ones being organised.. Think I was just unlucky with dates.

Ok - why don't you suggest some dates and then I'll see which are suitable and get something organised. Quite a few of my MN friends gave morphed into being Facebook and real life Wink** friends.

I'd like to come too, any day suits really so I'm flexible.
I've met Weegiemum before so she knows I'm relatively normalGrin

I might be interested in this too (shy Blush) 45 mins from Glasgow - currently snowed in lol!

Where and what is the Burrell?

Report
prettybird · 08/01/2016 22:13

The Burrell Collection (one of Glasgow's museums), situated in Pollok Park (South Side of Glasgow). It's possible to get there by public transport but easiest by car. It has a nice cafe.

The Tramway/Hidden Gardens is beside Pollokshields East Railway station (one stop from Glasgow Central). However it's usually shut on Mondays.

Do yous bring children or is this adult only? And have I just barged into a ready made clique?!

Report
blueandgreendots · 09/01/2016 09:22

I'm in Glasgow and would be interested in a meet up. I'm relatively new here and still getting to know places and people. I've got 3 year old DD and am 25 weeks pregnant with only one head last time I checked!

Report
prettybird · 09/01/2016 09:52

Not adult only - kids welcome although my ds is now 15 and wouldn't be seen dead at anything like this

You definitely wouldn't be barging in - it's not a ready made clique in that many of those that have met have other commitments and often don't make meet ups. None of us knew each other we first met at a MN Meet up. There is a common interest amongst those that have met recently in Woolly Hugs (the crocheted/knitted blankets made for bereaved MNers and other worthy causes - such as Yorkhill) so some Works in Progress might be brought along although in my case it rarely gets out the bag as I'm doing busy talking Blush

Lots of coffee, cake and joking about some of the extremes of MN I think most of us would deemed baaaaaad parents, allowing occasional fruit shoots and worse Wink

Oh this is sounding fun Grin I've got a 15 month ds, 10 year old ds and currently 24 weeks pregnant too.

And I love to crochet, just haven't had the time this past wee while.

I hope that one day I'll have the courage to come to one of these!

I hope it goes ahead and you all have a really lovely time Smile

Ok, I've consulted my not very busy social calendar and am going to propose 27 January at the Tramway/Hidden Gardens from 12 til 3-ish (or until we stop talking Wink)

Address is 25 Albert Dr, Glasgow G41 2PE. The cafe is reasonable, with good coffee and nice cakes and there is plenty of space either downstairs or upstairs if it's busy. It's easy to get to: not far off the M8/M74 and there is free on-street parking. It's beside Pollokshields train station: one quick stop from Glasgow Central.

Any and all welcome! Smile

I'll post up on Mumsnet Local too, in amongst the cobwebs and dust.

More details:

The Tramway's cafe is very child friendly, so kids welcome (my ds is 15, so definitely won't be there! Wink).

A few of us may also bring along some crochet/knitting as we've been involved with the Mumsnet Woolly Hugs projects. But most of the time we just drink coffee and eat cake!

If it's busy, we may go upstairs to the mezzanine to have enough space. I'll put a Mumsnet sign on the table, so that you don't need to accost random strangers and ask if they're from Mumsnet not that I've done that in the past Blush

I'm never busy, except for that day!
Had to reschedule a lunch this week at Chop chop for then.

Next one is going to be a Saturday - haven't decided which one yet though. Will look at March and have a think Smile

The meetup last week went well - there were 6 of us in the end.

Hello all, I'm new to mumsnet & joined after aforementioned meet up, would love to join next one, is there a way of getting notified automatically or is it a case of checked back here? Cheers Grin

They do happen but very few people turn up! Sad

Last one a few weeks ago had about 6 or 7 of us. Most of us knew each other from previous MN meetups (and have gone on to know each other better via Facebook) but one new person came along, which was good.

I'd said I'd organise a Saturday one next. Which would suit better: 12 or 19 March?
