Hi all, I'm due my first baby next month, have just gone on maternity leave and I'm already twiddling my thumbs.
I'm used to working full time so it's a bit strange at the moment not doing anything!

My df works from home so I'm trying to learn to leave him alone so he can earn money Grin

Anyway can those who just have the one baby at home give me an example of what your day is like ? Do you have a schedule ?
Do you just go with the flow? I don't have a great deal of money but I do have friends with small children and a few pregnant ones so I shouldn't be too lonely.
How did you adjust from being a working woman to a sahm? Thanks Smile

With one small baby I just breastfed and watched TV, did online shopping, a bit of hoovering/laundry, napped.

By 'not doing anything' I'm referring to now as I do not yet have a child so apart from a bit of washing up I have nothing to do!

@Smoggle Thankyou for your reply, I am hoping to breast feed so I expect my days will be like this at first Smile (apart from the shopping as I am too poor! Ha)

Hi my husband works from home too.

I have a 19 week baby.

First few months there was no routine ( each baby is different ) he didn’t really sleep
Much to be honest ... ( don’t worry my friends baby slept 8 hours from day one and frequent day naps )

Now we have a routine I usually get up 10:30pm 1am and 5 am for feeds ( taking roughly 45 mins to 1 hour depending )

Then sleep until roughly 6:30-
8-am ( I am at the mercy of my son)

We get up and play / I will put him in his
Baby gym while I grab tea and toast ... then feed him for 9am

He will be tired around 9:30-10am and nap
For 1-2 hours

I put away dry laundry get out clothes from
Machine I would have put on earlier ( he has reflux so we wash a lot ) hoover / empty washing machine / prep dinner if we are out in the afternoon

Then when he is up
We go to nanny and grandads ( I have my parents and my grandparents and partners parents and everyone wants to see him for 3-4 hours so that’s 3 days done )

Come home play and dinner ( nap i. There somewhere )

Great thing about family is they are free / they will feed you and if you are bottle feeding / expressed they will feed and burp
The baby ( well my parents not my
Grandparents ) which gives you a rest.

1 day a week we go to play group /weigh in

1-2 days a week are for us ... online food order comes ... will cook slow cook options like casserole / stew and I will do other jobs like changing beds mowing lawn seeeping etc and napping with baby

Leaves weekends for family time and more often than not time with husbands family as his mum wants to see her offspring g as well as grandson

But I have to flex he may be ill having a bad day and then jobs go out the window and I have learnt that’s ok too x

With DS1 similar to Smoggle really. Had previously joined NCT so was able to meet up with other mums of babies a fair bit. When he got a bit older started going to baby/toddler classes, swimming etc.

Tried to stay on top of the washing daily & other jobs.

The loveliest part of them being tiny is them feeding & sleeping on you. You can proper cuddle them for hours whilst watching TV & snacking Grin

Thanks for your replies guys @Newmumma83 I'm expecting a boy! I can't wait, your list has been especially helpful.
I'm really struggling with getting used to the fact that my df is home but is working! I'm sure I'll get used to it, I'm a bit of a needy pregnant woman and I just want his attention all the time Grin

@MissHemsworth ooo I'm looking forward to the tv and snacking! I'm scared to snack too much at the moment incase I put on loads of weight, I can't tell if I'm over weight or pregnant at the moment haha
