Hi all,

I just don’t know how other mums always make the time to look nice, wear make up, spotless houses and kids?

Feel EXHAUSTED all the time, is this normal?

Watching this thread with interest. I suspect many are fortunate enough to have the luxury of cleaners.

I look and feel like i was dragged through a hedge. I am always knackered. I have no idea how people do hair / make up / have endless hobbies and cocktail nights out...the effort in prep for a night out makes me want to cry. I was at swimming lessons yesterday with odd birkinstocks.... other mums with swishy hair and manicures. The only logical explanation is that they are Stepford wives.

I think a lot of it depends on what type of child youve got, your own metabolism, how you structure your day, how much your dp does and how much other help you get.

and some of it depends on if you also have shit head neighbours who specialise in banging about and waking you up at night in revenge for you daring to have a child and wanting to go to bed early

Can only imagine how tiring it is with more than one child 🤷🏻‍♀️

.... and don't forget, you don't see all the rest of us who haven't even made it out the front door. You are seeing a small sample. Don't be fooled. Wink

I would love to know how other parents do it - I wish I could put on makeup, do loads of craft activities, live in a spotless and tidy house... I just feel like that picture of ET dressed up that does the rounds on SM every so often!

Here's something....have your thyroid checked! Dd is 8 months and altho I'm considered an "older" mum at 40, I went to my doc as I was utterly exhausted with only 1 (very easy going) baby. Turns out mt Thyroid's completely out of whack and needed meds asap. Rmember to ask for THS as well as T4 test

get your vitamin D levels checked!

I was highly stressed until my child was about 4 years old (LP) and went to school. Much better now. But it made me feel so tired for so long.

I'm exhausted! Two dc, one 8 and one 7. Both at school and I'm still knackered! I found it easy to have the tidy house, make up on etc and had far more energy when they were under 5 . Now apart from school hours they just bicker constantly and I feel so weary and ground down by it.

People said it gets easier as they get older. Not in my eyes and the day is longer as they stay up later. So no more nice relaxing evenings.

Someone asked me how I managed to be so good at being a stay at home mum once because I often have makeup on ,my hair is done and I often have a clean house and I said you know what ,it seems that way but my partner works nights 6 days a week and I can’t bare sitting on my own I have to distract myself doing chores or if you go into my utility room you’ll see the mountain of clothes or if you go into my bedroom you’ll see my makeup is all over my room because if I have makeup on it means I’ve had to distract my toddler long enough which means allowing her to play with it and if my hair looks like it’s always done it’s because I wash my hair once a week style it and then use a tonne of dry shampoo until it’s hair wash night my kids always look ace and wear next and designer all the time because I buy all their clothes second hand lol I’m exhausted I’ve never been so tired I sob if I can’t get a job done it’s taken over my life ,my anxiety is through the roof I’m boobin and mopping at the same time I’m petrified of people coming over without letting me know ,I want to be able to sit down and wash TV with a cuppa but I can’t its s viscous cycle for me but yet definitely I’ve never been as exhausted and I used to work 72 hours a week in a very active job before this
